Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup whole milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Pulse together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a food processor.
  • Add butter and pulse until sandy crumbs form.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together milk and egg, reserving 2 tablespoons for egg wash.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients, forming a rough dough.
  • Knead the dough gently about 10 times on a floured surface.
  • Roll out to 1 inch thick and cut out scones using a 2.5-inch cutter.
  • Bake on a lined baking sheet for 13-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Use cold butter for a flakier texture.
Avoid over-mixing to prevent tough scones.
