Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
- Pulse together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a food processor.
- Add butter and pulse until sandy crumbs form.
- In a small bowl, whisk together milk and egg, reserving 2 tablespoons for egg wash.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, forming a rough dough.
- Knead the dough gently about 10 times on a floured surface.
- Roll out to 1 inch thick and cut out scones using a 2.5-inch cutter.
- Bake on a lined baking sheet for 13-15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
Use cold butter for a flakier texture.
Avoid over-mixing to prevent tough scones.
