Ingredients

  • 1 (15.25 ounce) boxed vanilla cake mix
  • Pink, purple, yellow, and/or pastel blue food coloring
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 package (3 ounces) vanilla pudding (or homemade vanilla pudding)
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • Green food coloring
  • Easter candies for decoration

Instructions

  • Make the boxed cake mix according to package instructions and divide into two bowls with different food coloring.
  • Bake the cakes, let them cool, and slice in half lengthwise.
  • Cut out mini cake rounds from each half.
  • Prepare the vanilla pudding according to package directions.
  • Beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  • Color the shredded coconut with green food coloring.
  • Assemble the trifles by layering mini cake rounds, colored coconut, vanilla pudding, whipped cream, and Easter candies.

Notes

For the best consistency, make your pudding a day in advance.
Add a splash of vanilla extract to whipped cream for richer taste.
Store leftover trifle in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, best enjoyed fresh.
